Take this with you on vacation. It's full of interesting, complex characters and even though there was a bit of a heavy subject as it's basis it turned into a fun, thought provoking read. I loved that Evelyn was no pushover, but didn't quench her desire for love. It did not end in the predictable way. As a matter of fact, I started out rooting for a certain suitor for Evelyn then changed my mind half way through as the characters were fleshed out. I think part of the fun of this story is to put yourself in Evelyn's shoes and ask, "What would I do"? This was a satisfying read and at the end, I was ready for more!Product details

I'm horrible at writing reviews so if you're looking for a more suitable one that talks more about the synopsis, I kindly would refer you read the other review available on here because it's a perfect summation of what this book is all about.
I, on the other hand, just really want to talk about how much I love, love love this book! I've read works from this author before and always thought she had a talent for writing excellent, fleshed out characters that you can't help but fall in love with. It's certainly no different with the characters found in Evelyn McBride. One of the main themes I love about this is the emphasis on Evelyn's need for independence and her need to not allow herself to fall into the typical life style that was often pressed upon women in that era, it totally speaks to me on a spiritual level. Yet, because I'm still a sucker for romances, I was still rooting for her to pick one of her many suitors (how the author managed to make me ship her with each guy equally is quite a feat tbh). As Evelyn's character and way of thinking became more fleshed out by the end of the book I was pleased and not at all surprised with the ending. It's left me wanting more and looking forward to reading about the consequences of her decision at the end of the story and whether or not she may have a change of heart.
